The most important feature and the one that has the greatest impact on this build is the fact that each side of the motorcycle is completely different from the other, creating the impression of two different bikes depending on which side you look at.
Thank you all for joining us today as we unveil our latest creation, the Sugar Mama motorcycle. When you take a look at both sides of this masterpiece independently, it’s almost impossible to believe they belong to the same bike. The front view reveals the standout feature, the lighting systems mounted on the crash bars, while the rear view showcases the perfect balance in heights when placed on the side stand.
We want to make it clear that this build is not only 100% road safe but also offers unparalleled comfort and performance. We haven’t compromised on any aspect, and we’ve embraced the beautiful design elements provided by the BMW Motorrad design and engineering team. The majority of parts and accessories used, including some modifications like the rear mudguard, have been sourced from BMW Motorrad OEM.
We removed the entire exhaust system and internally modified it to remove any obstructions that dampened the natural sound. The result is more throaty, and captivating tone. We also shortened the length of the exhaust by nearly six inches and adjusted the angle of the exhaust tips for a harmonious look with the bike.
The night-themed left side includes the precision-painted rims, frame, and subframe, all in black, as well as the engine and gearbox in dark gray. Components such as the crash bar, shock absorber, brake lines and caliper, rearview mirror, fender base, and even the distinctive logos on this side, among other details, are dark. The inks used by the artist are in line with the theme, and even the lighting has been carefully selected, with smaller headlights on this side to evoke stars or city lights. The headlight lenses have even been darkened.
The day-themed right side of the motorcycle stands out with the predominance of white color on the halves of the rims, frame, subframe, as well as the corresponding parts of the engine and gearbox. The colors chosen by the artist and the tire tread patterns are distinct from their dark counterparts, creating a mysterious sensation of two bikes in one. Even the final gearbox was painted to match the composition.
To achieve the aforementioned, we dismantled the vehicle and transported the parts, including the frame, subframe, engine, gearbox, wheels, shocks, mirrors, etc., to the Make it Happens automotive paint shop. Iconic parts like the driveshaft and horn were also painted by them, although some modifications were made later due to a lack of coordination with the final artwork, such as the rear brake master cylinder.
The parts to be artistically intervened went through a peculiar process. Due to time constraints, the artist had to rely heavily on his imagination since the motorcycle was completely disassembled while he worked on his artistic composition. With photographic references, the artist, Andres Celis, instinctively intervened and transformed the parts to achieve an unsurpassable result. Remember, we have here a modified rear fender and an aftermarket dust cover.
After the modified saddlebags and the OEM comfort seat, the original leather was replaced with colored crocodile leather at Miami Upholstery and Fabrics.
During the assembly process, we fine-tuned the aesthetic details and incorporated design and manufacturing elements that brought the ideas on paper to life. For this task, no one better than Alejandro Lopez, who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to this project. He is a fundamental key to completing the motorcycle on time and in line with the concept. Meetings, brainstorming sessions, drawings, cardboard templates, fabricated pieces that are later discarded – the process of conceiving the final product is extensive, exhausting, but satisfying.
To complete the build, there is one last detail that couldn’t be missed: an integrated and hidden music system, a hidden surprise.
Now, the Sugar Mama can be enjoyed in its permanent exhibition at BMW Motorcycles of Miami in the Vintage area of the store, accompanied by the rest of the available R18 models and variations.
Returning to the most iconic element, the exposed shaft, we removed it and painted it magenta, the color of the flamingos that grace the beaches and parks of Miami. This color is also represented on the left side by applying it to the horn. For the seat, we installed a BMW OEM Comfort seat, specifically designed for this motorcycle by Mustang Seats. While retaining its original shape, the dull black leather was replaced with colorful crocodile leathers, evoking the spirit of the Everglades National Park, and blending seamlessly with the artist’s chosen colors to give the bike its character.
We’ve preserved the majority of BMW design elements and relocated many of them. The cluster has been moved to the rear of the handlebar, the mirrors have been painted, the radiator guard has been replaced with the BMW OEM Chrome option, and various levers and accessories have been carefully selected and installed.

One of the most striking features of this BMW R18 Custom Build is the internal modification of the exhaust system. We tweaked it not only to provide a more robust, ear-pleasing sound but also to blend harmoniously with the overall aesthetic of the motorcycle.
Our love for Miami shines through in the design of the BMW R18 ‘Sugar Mama.’ The color scheme, thoughtfully designed by local artist Andres Celis, captures the allure of Miami’s day and nightlife. The modifications to the luggage case, the shaft, and the seat, further accentuate the bike’s unique personality, embodying the spirit of Miami’s flora and fauna.
In this endeavor, we’ve respected the ethos of BMW Motorrad’s design, adapting and relocating many original elements for a fresh, innovative look. And the result? An awe-inspiring motorcycle that stands as a testament to the synergy of engineering brilliance and artistic imagination.

Allow us to provide some specific details about the creation process. We started with the platform of a BMW R18 Classic, completely disassembling it. The first step involved the frame and sub-frame, which we meticulously painted in collaboration with Make it Happen Automotive www.collisionmiami.com the left side was painted black while the right side was painted white. The engine and gearbox were also painted halfway, with the right side in light gray and the left side in dark gray.
We removed the entire exhaust system and internally modified it to remove any obstructions that dampened the natural sound. The result is a deeper, more throaty, and captivating tone. We also shortened the length of the exhaust by nearly six inches and adjusted the angle of the exhaust tips for a harmonious look with the bike. The Final Drive, located on the right side of the motorcycle, was also painted in light gray.
Moving on to the lighting, we relocated the headlight to the right crash bar and tinted it yellow, leaving a small clear circle just in front of inner BMW logo. This choice was inspired by the desire to illuminate the right side of the bike as the day, symbolizing the sun that shines on the vibrant beaches of Miami. The organic paintwork, created by artist Andres Celis (@AndresCelis_Art), captures the vibrant colors of Miami during the day. The auxiliary lights were placed on the left crash bar and tinted black, representing the stars of the night sky and the city lights of Miami. The colors applied by the artist on the left side give the impression of the cosmopolitan nights in Miami.
The luggage case, utilizing one of the two original cases, was also modified. We reduced its depth to create a lighter appearance and provide a better view of the exposed cardan shaft. Inside the case, the BMW Motorrad + MTX Boom Box sound system is installed and fully functional.
Returning to the most iconic element, the exposed cardan shaft, we removed it and painted it magenta, the color of the flamingos that grace the beaches and parks of Miami.
To complete the transformation, we utilized wheels from an R18 Pure, which were expertly painted by the Make It Happen Automotive team www.collitionmiami.com the right side of the wheels is painted white, while the left side is painted black. Cables were hidden, hydraulic lines replaced for color matching ones and so.
Sugar Mama is the ride every truly Miamian is waiting to get the expose with.
